It All Comes Down to Confidence
Today I pondered what defines an entrepreneur. It’s certainly not a lack of fear, because everyone has those. It doesn’t matter how smart, witty, or hard working you are. Those qualities help, but they don’t quite capture “it”. For me, it really comes down to confidence. If you don’t have confidence that your team will pull through, that you will figure out that crazy bug, that your ideas will succeed, that you will get through the mistakes, then you never have the guts to start. To try. To get to a place where you even require confidence in the first place.
This is just my hypothesis, but I bet if you interviewed every entrepreneur who was successful, not one of them would lack confidence in themselves, their team, their idea, whatever. It just has to be there. It doesn’t mean that there aren’t things, people, situations, that test an entrepreneur’s confidence. But, if they are going to pull through and continue to press forward, they will have to recapture that confidence first.
